Every piece of Shem Hake jewellery begins with a story. While traditional jewellery is often born within the clinical walls of a workshop, our pieces are conceived in the wild on windswept Cornish cliffs, quiet mountain ridges, and the hidden corners of the British landscape.

Whether you are looking to commemorate a proposal, celebrate a milestone, or breathe new life into heirloom gold, our bespoke process ensures your jewellery carries the spirit of the places you love most.

The Process: Three Chapters of Creation

1. The Consultation & Vision

We begin with a personal consultation—whether in person, over the phone, or via video. Together, we will discuss your inspirations, stone preferences, and the raw textures that resonate with you. We then refine these ideas into a conceptual sketch and source ethically minded gemstones, diamonds, or opals to bring your design to life.

2. Carving in the Elements

Once the design is set, the wax model is taken directly into the landscape. Just as an artist paints en plein air, we carve and texture your piece while surrounded by the rock formations and energy of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can choose a location that holds deep personal meaning, such as a favourite childhood coastline or the exact landscape of your proposal.

3. The Studio Finish

The final wax model returns to our workshop to be cast in your chosen precious metal. Using traditional techniques, we meticulously hand finish the piece and set your stones, ensuring the organic, wild textures of the landscape remain forever captured in gold or platinum.

Bespoke commissions are priced individually based on your choice of metals, stones, and design complexity. Quotes are finalized once the design is agreed upon.

Our Signature Offering: Cast At Location

For those seeking the ultimate connection to a place, we offer our signature Cast At Location service. Rather than casting back in the studio, we bring our portable furnace directly into the wild.

Using the ancient art of sand casting, we pour molten gold or silver on site amidst the salt air of the coast or the stillness of mountain peaks. This immersive service is ideal for wedding bands, creating a ring that doesn't just represent a memory, but was physically forged within it.

Your piece can be tailored entirely to your aesthetic from raw, deeply textured finishes to a refined satin or high-shine polish.

Our signature Cast At Location service starts at £495 (within a 200-mile radius of Bristol). Locations beyond this area or international destinations are subject to custom pricing.

The Heirloom Edit: Transforming Sentimental Jewellery

Your existing jewellery holds profound stories, and we would love to help you tell them in a beautiful new way. Through our dedicated remodelling service, we can breathe fresh life into heirloom gold, platinum, and family gemstones.

We handle your sentimental pieces with the utmost care, melting down the precious metal and carefully salvaging original stones to create a completely custom, contemporary design.
