The recent summer of 2025 was a pleasant and mild one and I thought it warranted a trip in June down to the coast. With tools, metals and stones at the ready I took off down the motorway to Cornwall to make wedding bands in situ in St Ives.
St Ives lies along the South West Coastal Path and shares some of the most beautiful and imaginative scenery along this long route.
With my back pack filled with tools I set off on a beautiful sunny day West of St Ives along the coastal path. It didn't take me a long time to find a perfect spot to start making these wedding bands.
Surrounded by towering eroded cliffs, the endless Ocean, and the shimmer of the sun rays on the waves I created the wax models for wedding bands. All inspired by the emotion experienced on that day, they are a reflection of the imposing and towering cliffs that seem to stand the test of time.
You will notice each design is unique and different, and each one resembles a part of the cliff rock that I saw in situ that day. Once the carvings are made I cast them back at the workshop into 18ct Yellow Gold. Each ring with a story and a beautiful beginning.
The photo shows the place the rings were made, you can see the sands of Hayle in the distance. The next 5 days of my trip involved a lot of running and exploring the South West Coastal Path.
